Sorry. Forgot to post (June 8, 2007).

God said…

2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

11 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare Gods people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.   Ephesians 4

There are many Christian denominations and many churches.  Paul reminds us that there is only one God and therefore only one church.  It is our responsibility to love one another so we can achieve the unity that God desires.

We at NHPC must remember “love and peace” because leaders of our church have been called to worship elsewhere.  The Hirais, Brandie, Toni and Sheldon, and the Lymans, John and Pam, have heard God’s call to attend other churches.  Their departure leaves a void in the church, not just because they were leaders, but because they are family.

We pray for God’s best for them.  We pray that they will make a positive impact at their new church as they have at ours.  Our prayers are those of thankfulness for the time they spent with us.

We will continue to focus on Jesus.  I know that He will comfort us.  I know He will bring new leaders.  I know He has anointed NHPC and Pastor Nando to change our world.

We will keep the faith!

Women’s Ministry Ohana Fair

Have you signed up to be a volunteer?  Have you donated your treasures?  Did you mark your calendar?

The fair is on June 23, 8:00am to 2:00pm.  The women of NHPC are planning a day of great shopping.  Expect to see crafters and treasures at this fair.  We also want to see people from our community come by.  So tell your friends about it!

For more information or if you’d like to help, contact Cheryl.

Keiki Ministry

We need your help!  Ron and Geri and Suzanne are away on trips for the rest of the month.  We can sure use your help on the 10th and 17th.  The 24th will be family Sunday so we’ll have a place for the Keiki on our “mezzanine”.

Please pray about helping out. This ministry is necessary for our church to be vibrant and growing.

Please see me or Lilia to help.

Opportunities from God

You never know when it will happen…

This past Sunday, Kyle pulled a lifeless six year old boy from the bottom of their recreation center pool.  Nadine Adams revived the boy and Pastor Nando and others prayed.  The boy was revived and recovered completely.   A few hours after being taken to the hospital, the boy and his mother visited Pastor Nando at his home to say thank you.

God created this opportunity and everyone responded “perfectly”.  The result, a life saved!

Most opportunities aren’t as dramatic.  God quite often asks us to just listen and pray for someone.  This may seem small in comparison to saving a nearly drowned boy, but it could be an emotionally life saving act of kindness.

Ask God for opportunities and when presented to you, share God’s love and kindness.  It will save a person’s life.

Prayer Ministry

On the first and third Monday of each month, Cheryl and I, along with others come to pray for you, the church, Pastor Nando, his family, and others.  Please give us your prayer requests via email or the Sunday tabs.  We want to pray for you because we know it works.  Please consider joining us on these evenings too.

Blood Drive

The Blood Bank representative called to ask if we’d like to participate again this summer.  For effectiveness, cost, time, etc., they need at least 25 people giving.

Please let me know if you’d like to participate.  We’ll do it again only if there’s enough interest.

Church Set Up

Come join us as we set up church each Sunday morning at 6:30am.  It’s a bit early but it’s a time to have fun with others who serve.  After everything is set up, coffee, donuts and terrific fellowship is there for you!

Cheryl’s Marriage/Relationship Tidbit:

Do you worry about worrying? As Christians, we want to follow Jesus admonition to not worry (see Matthew 6:25-34), but too often worry doesnt just disappear because we know we need to cast our cares on Jesus. Dont worry if you have problems giving up worry. Learn to understand it and what it means, and youll equip yourself to worry less.

Look at it this way, babies cry because they are basically worried. Mom left the room, and baby worries that shes gone forever. Food isnt in his mouth and hes already starving, so he cries. When Mom or Dad addresses his worries, while his cries might ease, they dont disappear immediately. Instead they gradually taper off. Worry is like that too. We feel it because, like the baby, somethings happened that we dont understand. Even though we know we dont need to worry because God is in control, like the baby, we still have the hiccuppy cries of worry that will take a while to taper off. But as we grow more confident in Father God, our worry will not be as intense before we catch it, so well be able to give it up more easily.

If you’re worried about your marriage, your finances, your children, or anything else, understand that the worry is showing you an area where you are still in the infant state in your relationship with God. Practice giving up worry as often as it takes for you to do it easily. And always accept signs of worry as calls to prayer. The more you pray over your worries, the less the devil will tempt you to worry!
