NHPC eNews – It’s Easter!

04Apr07

And God Said…

1Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. 2So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” John 20:1-2

The tomb is empty! Jesus is alive! Share the good news! All our sins are forgiven and we can live forever!

Invite your family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and anyone else you run into. They must hear the good news!

Ministries and Announcements

Easter

Lynne Nakamoto, Heidi Fowler and others are working very hard preparing for our Easter service. Stella Okuma gave some hand-made gifts. The food will be simple but special. Be sure to come and bring a friend with you.

You can invite a friend via email by visiting our website: www.nhpearl.org. And even if you’ve invited that certain friend 17 times, invite them again. Your loving perseverance will end in success.

And also be sure to stick around after service for our Easter Egg Hunt.

If you’d like to lend a hand, please contact Lynne or Heidi. We can use help setting up on Sunday morning. We start at 6:30am. After set-up is completed there are some small tasks that we need help with. When all work is done, it’s time for coffee and talking story until worship starts.

Keiki Ministry

Help! We need your help. Just showing up once a quarter will really help. See Geri, Ron, or me to sign up.

Prayer Ministry

On the first and third Monday of each month, Cheryl and I, along with others come to pray for you, the church, Pastor Nando, his family, and others. Please give us your prayer requests via email or the Sunday tabs. We want to pray for you because we know it works. Please consider joining us on these evenings too.

Hawaiian Islands Ministries’ Honolulu 2007

This annual conference was held this past weekend. We attend this conference every year because of our Island Christian Guide connection. Each year excellent Mainland and local speakers and teachers share their knowledge on a variety of subjects.

Although we’re familiar with most of the topics, hearing it presented by nationally recognized speaker makes the message a reminder that is received in a positive way. It’s “different” because these Mainland speakers are more emotional and animated in their delivery.

We highly recommend this conference. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as we did. Go to their website for more info www.himonline.org

Bible Study on the Book of John

Are you interested in learning to read and study the Bible in detail? Cheryl and I are planning on facilitating a study on the book of John. This study will start in May, most likely on Tuesday evenings, at the Ministry Center. If you are interested please contact me.

An option to our Bible study is Bible Institute of Hawaii. On a quarterly basis they have Bible classes throughout the island. Go to their website for more info www.biblehawaii.org

From one of the emails I received:

While driving in Pennsylvania, a family caught up to an Amish carriage. The owner of the carriage obviously had a sense of humor, because attached to the back of the carriage was a hand printed sign… “Energy efficient vehicle: Runs on oats and grass. Caution: Do not step in exhaust.”
