Invite Your Friends to Easter

And God Said…

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. 1 Corinthians 4:20

Paul was admonishing the Corinthians to live Godly lives.

This is a great reminder for us too, to live Godly lives and to be reminded that we can tap into God’s power since we have accepted his Son.

It’s through a daily reading plan that we receive God’s encouragement, daily. We receive His blessings from Pastor Nando on Sundays. Unfortunately, that isn’t enough. Read daily, pray daily and often, so you can receive God’s word.

Ministries and Announcements

Easter

He (Jesus) said to them, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15

April 8 is Easter. Start inviting your friends and family to church. Let’s make a difference in the lives of those closest to us. Let’s take action through our invitations. And even though it may be a stretch and it may feel uncomfortable for you to talk about “God” with your friends, remember that it may be your seed that starts their eternal journey.

We have an invitation that is “attached” to our website. You can send an email to friends and family that will take them to our video invitation. Here is the link: http://nhpearl.org/easter.html

And a special thanks to everyone who helped out with the video.

Sister Aimee on PBS

This past Sunday, Dave talked about Foursquare’s founder, Aimee Semple McPherson. Pastor Nando received an email from Foursquare informing him of the following:

On Monday, April 2, 2007, the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) will feature the one-hour documentary film, “Sister Aimee,” on American Experience. More than a year in the making, the show will provide an overview of Sister McPherson’s life and ministry.

The following Web site will provide details regarding the film itself and local stations and schedules:

Keiki Ministry

There will be no formal Keiki care this coming Sunday, March 25. Ron and Geri have been blessed with a Kaua`i vacation. The received an offer they couldn’t refuse, free use of a beachfront home near Princeville.

Come with your keiki and have them join you in the sanctuary.

This past Sunday, Ron and Geri spent the weekend on the Big Island. Ryan, Sadie and others filled in and all went well.

Thank you to everyone for helping out.

Pastor Nando’s Sabbath

Pastor Nando, Lilia, and kids took a much deserved break. I’ve worked in a variety of industries and in my opinion, a pastor has one of the toughest jobs. Vacations are needed to keep one’s sanity and to be rejuvenated by the Holy Spirit.

Thanks to everyone who filled in for PN to make it a very special Sunday.

  • Thanks to Leland Castro and the Praise Team. The Team was terrific! And it was really neat to see everyone stay for the closing songs.

  • Thank you Trisha and Dave for an encouraging message. Now we must do our part in getting our family and friends to church, especially on Easter. Let’s grow spiritually too. Join a small group, attend classes, etc.
  • Thank you Ryan and Sadie for caring for the Keiki and doing the Hospitality too.
  • Thanks to John Lyman and others, especially Nick and Sarina Pelletier and their kids, for setting up and taking down. It’s also neat to see kids mopping floors.
  • Thank you everyone for being worshipers in God’s church. You make it all worthwhile.

Of course our biggest thank you to Pastor Nando, Lilia, Davin, Tyler, Kyle, and Rhema. Thank you for being our shepherd.

Women’s Ministry

The Women, lead by Cheryl, is studying the Women of the Bible. They meet this Thursday, March 22. You can join them at any time because each chapter is independent of each other. Meetings are on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Call Cheryl at 531-5746 if you have questions.

Cheryl’s Tid-Bits on Relationships

Have you ever noticed how hard it is sometimes to forget something, even after we’ve forgiven it? I’ll share a little secret with you. The reason you can’t seem to forget is that someone keeps bringing it to your remembrance. That someone is the devil who wants you to remember. He reminds you because he knows that it will draw your focus off of God. If you want the devil to stop reminding you about negative things, start using them to praise God and pray for the one whose sin the devil is pointing out. (That “one” may even be you!) When you catch yourself thinking, “I can’t believe Paul did that! How could he be so insensitive?” Stop, and say out loud, because devils can’t read minds, something like this: “Wow, thank you for reminding me to pray for Paul, you dumb devil! … Lord, bless Paul abundantly. Right now, send him a reminder of your love. And help me to find some special way to show him my love today.” When you learn to change your reaction to the devil’s reminders, he’ll stop sending them, and you’ll discover that you can’t remember what you’ve forgotten!
